There are two main things to think through: the style of the band, and whether you want a flush fit.

Band style and diamond shape pairing: If you want a diamond band alongside a diamond engagement ring, matching the diamond shape is the easiest choice—round with rounds, oval with ovals, etc. It always looks intentional and polished. If you prefer mixing shapes with a solitaire, round diamonds are the most versatile and pair cleanly with any engagement ring shape. For something slightly more distinctive, ovals and emerald cuts are popular choices that complement most shapes without competing. Want something a little more unique? Emeralds set east-west are a versatile option that are elegantly understated. A half bezel oval, emerald, or asscher cut band add a pop of gold in a sleek and modern profile. Undecided? Create an eternity wedding band with half emeralds and half ovals, so you can have both options in one band.

Setting height: High-set engagement rings allow for easier stacking. A standard eternity or diamond band typically sits alongside them without any gap. They also tend to make the center stone appear larger. The tradeoff is that a higher profile is more exposed to everyday knocks, so your lifestyle is worth factoring in. Lower-set and bezel settings are more practical for people who use their hands a lot, but they require a bit more planning to create a band that sits flush.

On flush fit: If you want no gap between your engagement ring and wedding band, the best time to plan for it is when you're designing the engagement ring. A contoured band can be made to follow the exact shape of your ring. An open or curved band creates the necessary clearance for three-stone rings or rings where the center stone sits close to the finger.

A wedding band is any ring you wear as a symbol of your marriage. It can be plain metal, partially set with stones, or a full eternity style. An eternity band is a specific design where diamonds run continuously around the entire band.

Full eternity bands are beautiful and provide the most seamless look, but there's a practical consideration worth knowing before you commit: they cannot be resized. For a ring you plan to wear for the rest of your life, that's worth thinking through carefully. If you want the eternity look with more long-term flexibility, half and three-quarter eternity bands are worth considering.

• Half Eternity: Diamonds cover the top portion of the band only. The plain metal section on the bottom half allows for traditional resizing, typically up to about one size in either direction. The most practical for everyday wear and active lifestyles.
• Three-quarter Eternity: Diamonds wrap most of the way around, leaving a smaller plain section. More visible sparkle from different angles, while still allowing for future adjustments.

Some people also choose a more substantial eternity band (8 CTW or more) to wear alone as their wedding band, without an engagement ring. It's a clean, modern look that works particularly well for people who prefer a single ring or want something that makes a statement on its own.

It depends on the style. Plain metal bands and partially-set bands can typically be resized up to two sizes smaller or larger — a standard process most jewelers handle routinely. The metal type matters: yellow gold is the most straightforward to resize, white gold requires refinishing after the process, and platinum requires more specialized work.

Full eternity bands are the exception. Because diamonds run continuously around the entire band, there is no plain metal section for a jeweler to cut into. Resizing one typically means removing and resetting stones—a more involved process that not all jewelers can do well, and one that can affect the band's original look. For a ring you plan to wear permanently, getting the size right before ordering is significantly easier than addressing it after.

If you're ordering an eternity-style band and want future sizing flexibility, half eternity bands are available as a custom order and can typically be resized about one size in either direction.

The eternity bands in our wedding band collection runs from $950 to $6,250 depending on carat weight, diamond shape, stone size, and setting style. A delicate eternity band starts under $1,000. A more substantial 3-5 CTW band in 14k gold runs $1,500-$3,500. Comparable mined diamond wedding bands of equivalent quality (F/VS stones, well-made settings) typically run $8,000-$20,000+ or more at that carat weight.

Spend what makes the band feel right. Not what a percentage-of-the-engagement-ring formula says.

We suggest ordering at least 6-8 weeks before your wedding date. Our jewelry is custom made to order with a 4-5 week lead time, and that leaves room for any adjustments without cutting it close. Our wedding bands are available in solid 14k white, yellow, or rose gold, and can be custom-ordered in 18k or platinum. The right choice comes down to how you wear jewelry.

14k gold is typically the more practical choice for daily wear. The higher alloy content makes it harder and more resistant to scratching over time, and many people prefer the look once they see both side by side — it has a slightly lighter, cooler tone that tends to mix well with other metals. For a ring that lives on your finger permanently, 14k is where most people land.

18k gold has a richer, warmer color and higher gold content. It's slightly softer than 14k and typically runs 25–30% more. One advantage worth knowing: because it contains fewer metal alloys, it's a better option for anyone with metal sensitivities.

If your engagement ring is already set in a specific metal, matching it keeps the look cohesive, but it's not a rule. Mixed metals are increasingly common and intentional.
